Employer: SANOFI Contract: 3 years contract Work location: GUSTAVE ROUSSY - Inserm U981 Villejuif, France Starting date: ASAP CONTEXT Sanofi and Gustave Roussy announced on January 19, 2023, new collaborative efforts focused on three early-phase oncological research projects. To carry out their joint translational research, Sanofi and Gustave Roussy researchers will rely on Gustave Roussy’s personalized medicine programs and will be well placed to benefit from the nearby Paris-Saclay Cancer Cluster [InnovationParis Saclay Cancer Cluster] and its technology facilities. The candidates will work in a multi-disciplinary environment on a cross-functional IGR-Sanofi project, the practical work will mainly take place at IGR, the candidates will be employees of Sanofi. The candidates will also ensure the transition of research programs, goals, and milestones execution with IGR partners, providing scientific and technical expertise. PROJECT Pathogenic variations in cancer genes are involved in tumorigenic circuit by different kinds of somatic alterations including mutations, translocations or copy number variations. Cancer precision medicine proposes to specifically target these genetic alterations. A pharmacologic inhibition of these drivers not only limits toxicities by specifically targeting cancer cells, but dramatically extends patient survival. However, acquired resistance is virtually inevitable with these treatments. In the context of this joint Sanofi-Gustave Roussy collaboration, we are developing an innovative translational resistance program that aims at understanding and eventually tackling residual disease. The successful candidates will perform high throughput screening approaches on PDX and patient-derived lung cancer cell lines sensitive or resistant to targeted therapy treatment with TK inhibitors (EGFRi, ALKi). The aim of this project is the identification of new targets for which no pharmacological agent is yet available and whose inhibition may prevent/delay resistance to therapy. The successful candidates are asked to specifically look for new targets from bypass signaling pathways and targets in the rare drug tolerant persister cancer cells. PROFILE The candidates should be highly motivated, hold a PhD in cellular or molecular biology, and have a strong experience in biochemical and molecular biology techniques. Previous experience with CRISPR or shRNA screens is required and experience in working with rodent models is highly recommended. The position provides an opportunity to work on a multifaceted biological question requiring strong interaction with bioinformaticians to generate and analyse data in a high-throughput setting. Team spirit, and excellent written and spoken English are expected.
